When Nicole walked onto the campus of the College of William & Mary with her three-month-old daughter in tow, the odds were stacked heavily against her. Fewer than 2% of teen mothers earn a college degree before age 30. Nicole didn't just beat that statistic—she built a movement to eliminate it.

Today, Nicole is a nationally recognized author, speaker, and advocate dedicated to systemic change for women, children, and families. As the founder of Generation Hope, her pioneering work has elevated two-generation solutions to the forefront of national education and policy conversations. Her critically acclaimed books—including Pregnant Girl (Beacon Press) and Student Parent (Beacon Press) —give voice to millions navigating education, poverty, and parenthood.

Nicole frequently shares her insights with national audiences and major media outlets, including Good Morning America, CNN, NBC Nightly News, and The Washington Post.

Nicole holds a Master’s degree in Social Policy and Communication from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from William & Mary, alongside honorary doctorates from Trinity Washington University and Montgomery College. She lives in Maryland with her children.
